SIA Executive Forum Addresses Future

As the EVP and CFO of Cross Country Healthcare, William Burns oversees all financial departments, including the tax, treasury, and business development departments. Additionally, William Burns actively participates in professional conferences such as the Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA) Executive Forum.

SIA is an advisory body that provides research-backed workforce solutions to improve business results. The organization holds an annual executive forum conference in North America.

The 2021 four-day conference was scheduled for March 8, but due to the pandemic, the conference was conducted as a virtual event. The theme for the 2021 conference was New Strategies for a New World, with a focus on research and strategies to cope with the shifting landscape of global markets.

Keynote speaker and SIA president Barry Asin delivered the opening speech, offering his insights on the challenges faced by the industry today. Sessions tackled topics such as opportunities in the post-COVID economy, implementing AI in recruitment, and leadership in remote workplaces. In addition to the conference’s sessions and roundtable discussions, the winners of the Best Staffing Firms were announced in a special event.

The executive vice president and chief financial officer at Cross Country Healthcare in Florida, William Burns has more than two decades of leadership experience. During this time, he has developed a firm understanding of such things as team building and project management. Active in the professional community, William Burns belongs to the Florida Institute of CFOs (fiCFO), an organization that has been fostering relationships between peers to boost best practices since 2008.

Serving more than 250 members throughout Florida, fiCFO has established several sustainable groups in Orlando, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, and South Florida. These groups of finance executives consist of individuals who lead worldwide companies that generate more than $300 billion in collective annual revenue. To ensure members stay ahead of challenges in the industry, fiCFO holds a CFO Summit event every year.

In 2018, the conference brought in a mixture of c-level employees, managing directors, SVPs, and CFOs from both public and private companies. These attendees had the opportunity to earn several continuing professional education (CPE) credits, in addition to hearing from dozens of speakers about different topics relevant to the financial executive role.

fiCFO planned to hold its 2020 Summit on May 14th and May 15th. However, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been rescheduled for 2021 and will feature the conference’s usual content-rich programs. Attendees at the 2021 event will also have the opportunity to build connections and gain valuable insights thanks to the summit’s thought-provoking content.

The Influential Business Women Awards

A New York University graduate, William Burns serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Cross Country Healthcare in Boca Raton, Florida. In that role, William Burns earned the chief financial officer award for turnaround achievement of the year from the South Florida Business Journal, a publication of American City Business Journals. The publication recognizes high-performing individuals in business through multiple award programs, including the Influential Business Women Awards.

Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, American City Business Journals provides business news through local journals in 44 markets, including Washington, D.C., and San Francisco, California. Several individual Business Journals solicit nominations for influential businesswomen in order to reward women succeeding in their fields. The publications look for candidates who show strong leadership skills, execute innovative ideas, perform at a higher level than peers in their industry, and make a positive impact on their community.

The South Florida Business Journal will recognize the winners of its 2021 Influential Business Women Awards on April 9, 2021, during a virtual award ceremony. Each honoree also will be profiled in the printed publication.
